After all that hype and hoopla surrounding the Sania Mirza-Shoaib Malik wedding, the reception, the ‘big’ and much-awaited event on April 15, turned out to be slightly low key. Out of the 1000 guests invited by the Mirza family, there didn’t seem to be too many prominent faces.

Earlier in the day, there was a lot of action at the reception venue. The ballroom was done up with colourful flowers and golden lights. The decoration was by Balkrishna, a Hyderabad-based florist and decorater. There was tight security at the entrance to the hotel. The city’s police and traffic police was called in to keep a check on the guests entering the venue, besides the hotel’s security personnel.

In the afternoon, Pakistani cricketer Sohail Tanveer said, “I’m happy for Shoaib and Sania. I’m pleased to be here for this wonderful occasion, and we bring with us tons of wishes from Pakistan. I would say this is Shoaib bhai’s best innings so far, and Sania bhabhi’s best game set and match! May Allah bless them.”

He added, “It is slightly dull here, lag hi nahin raha hai ki koi shaadi ka mahaul hai. Let Shoaib and Sania bhabhi come to Pakistan, we will have a grand reception aur log dekhte rah jayenge.” Baig said, “I will sing a song for the newlywed couple, Aaja Meri Laila, Tujh Ko Main Dikha Doon, Pyaar Ki Jannat Mein Tujhe Leke Jaaon.”

Also present was Pakistan’s federal minister for population welfare, Firdous Ashiq Awan, along with other delegates like Zulfikquar Malik, a leading businessman from Sialkot, Imran Rafique Towne, president of Sialkot cricket association, and Syed Mohammad Fawad Sher, first secretary (political) from the Pakistani high commission in India. Awan presented a golden crown studded with semi precious stones to Sania. Talking about Sania and Shoaib’s wedding, she said, “Pakistan mein log bahut khush hain Sania aur Shoaib ki shaadi ki khabar sun kar. Humein khushi hai ki Sania aur Shoaib ki shaadi mein hum shaamil ho sake. The crown represents the taj gifted to our bahu… Humari dua hai ki woh dono khush rahein.” The Pakistani delegates are expected to fly back to Pakistan on April 21. The buzz is that both Shoaib and Sania are also expected to leave for Pakistan on the same day.

Amongst the other guests who made it to the reception were TDP chief and former Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu, Subbirami Reddy, leading South actors like Nagarjuna, MS Manchu Vishnu, Laxmi Jagapathy Babu, Venkatesh, Bollywood actor Raza Murad, ghazal maestro Talat Aziz, actresses Neha Dhupia and Rakshanda Khan, fashion designers Shantanu and Nikhil Mehra with their wives Rima and Vidushi and kids Ayan, Rishan, Vivhan and Ninya. Those who were expected to attend the reception and gave it a miss finally included AP CM K Rosaiah, governor ESL Narsimhan, city police commissioner AK Khan, Mahesh Bhupathi, Salman Khan, Arbaaz and Malaika Khan and many more.

A computer technician pleaded not guilty in a Hong Kong court Monday to illegally copying and distributing more than 1,000 photos of a Hong Kong actor performing sex acts with a string of starlets.

Sze Ho-chun, an employee of computer shop Elite Multimedia, saw the images on Edison Chen’s laptop when the Canadian-born singer-actor brought it in for repair work in 2006, prosecutor Hayson Tse told the Kowloon City Magistracy.

Sze then copied the images on to a computer server which was connected to the Internet, Tse said.

At the start of his 10-day trial, Sze pleaded not guilty to three counts of obtaining access to a computer with a view to dishonest gain for himself or anther.

The prosecution said that Sze saved 1,300 sex photos of Chen and other local celebrities on a compact disc and passed the disc to another of his customers. He also told the customer how to access the images on the Internet.

The 24-year-old Sze allegedly sparked one of the city’s biggest sex scandals when the photos, which Chen has admitted taking himself, were plastered across the Internet for weeks in February last year.

The pictures showed Chen in compromising positions with celebrities including Canto-pop star Gillian Chung, actress Cecilia Cheung and former actress Bobo Chan.

The incident caused a storm in the celebrity-obsessed city and sent Chen fleeing to his childhood home of Canada.

He is so clearly guilty. How else could 1300 photos get released to the public? He stole them from the pink laptop and spread them around. He thought he could be famous and tapping into someone’s privacy. He was selfish and just wanted fame, without any regard for what would happen to the victims. He should be convicted and sent away for a long long time.

This story keeps getting more and more bizarre. In the latest twist, sources say that Chris Brown is being charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

TMZ reports that law enforcement sources informed them of the news this morning. However there is no word of what that alleged weapon is at this time.

The crime report also gives the victim’s name as Robyn Fenty, which is Rihannna’s birth name.

This is just getting scary. Did he have a gun on him? A knife? And this whole time we thought Chris and Rihanna were just a normal happy couple. Guess there was a whole lot more than meets the eye.

Meanwhile, eyewitness tell Radar that Rihanna was in fact treated at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after the alleged incident. She “was brought through the back entrance on a gurney, flanked by two LAPD officers,” says the source.

“Rihanna was clearly very upset by what had happened and I could hear her screaming. Rihanna was trying to get her point across about something, she sounded like she was crying as she tried to get to put her point across. Her staff was also very shaken by what had happened,” added the source.
